1. Introduction

 This product is a V.90 56kbps modem card in Compact Flash I/O type 

 (also note as CF+) interface. The product is to be used in machines with

 CF slot, such as Windows CE handheld PCs. 

 

 Also CF+ interface is compatible with PCMCIA 16 bit interface. With a

 50-pin(CF+) to 68-pin(PCMCIA) adapter, this product can also be used in

 a notebook PC with PCMCIA slots.

2.2.6 LED Indication

3. Windows 98 Installation

 

Note: It is assumed the PCs with Windows 98 have PCMCIA slots.

 

(1) Insert the CF 56K Fax/Modem card (later we will call it "the Device") 

      into the PCMCIA slot adapter, then insert the PCMCIA adapter into the PC’s  

      PCMCIA slot. Power on the PC, Windows98 will recognize the device. 

      Click "Next".

      

(2) Select "Search for the best driver for your device. (Recommended)." 

      and click "Next".

     

(3) Insert the driver disk and select the driver location, then click "Next".

       

 

(4) Windows 98 will search and recognize the driver of the Device, click "Next".

 

       

 

(5) Windows will automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system. 

 

(6) After copying the driver files, the device installation is completed, click "Finish".

    

(7) After reboot the system, CF 56K Fax/Modem will be ready.

 

 

4. Windows 2000 Installation

Note: It is assumed the PCs with Windows 2000 have PCMCIA slots.  

(1) Insert the CF 56K Fax/Modem card (later we will call it "the Device") 

     into the PCMCIA slot adapter, then insert the PCMCIA adapter into the PC’s  

     PCMCIA slot. Power on the PC, Windows 2000 will show

      "Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard" , Click "Next".

     

(2) Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device" and click "Next" .

     

(3)  Insert the driver disk and select the location where the driver is located,

       then click "Next".

      

(4) The windows found the driver, click "Next" to continue.

        

(5) Digital signature not found, click "Yes"  to continue the installation.

      

(6) Windows will automatically copy the driver files and related files 

     into the system.  After copying the driver files, the device installation is

     completed, click "Finish".

       

(7) Now CF 56K Fax/Modem is ready to use.

 

 

5. Windows CE Installation

Note: It is assumed the PCs with Windows CE have CF slot. The installation 

         is as simple as to insert the card into PC’s CF slot.  

(1)  Power on the PC, insert the CF 56K Fax/Modem card into the PC’s

       CF slot. For some PCs, the installation is completed, no message appears.

       Some PCs will show:

         "PC Card detected in slot1. Warning: Battery power may not be

          sufficient to run your PC Card. ….  Do you want to use this PC

          card on battery power? "    

       Please click "Yes" to use battery power, otherwise the card can not work.

 

(2)  You can select "My Handheld PC" -> "Control Panel" -> "System"

          -> "Device" to check if Slot1 (or Slot2) has CF 56K modem installed.

 

(3)  To set up a connection to Internet, select "Start" -> "Program" -> 

       "Communications" -> "Remote Networking"   -> "Make New

      Connection". Select "Dial-up connection" and follow the instructions

      on the screen to set up the connection.
