Thank you for purchasing this CF10/100  Fast Ethernet Adapter

Installing the CF10/100 FastEthernet Adapter

This product is a 10/100 Fast Ethernet adapter in Compact Flash I/O type (also note as CF+) interface. The product is to be used in machines with CF slot, such as Windows CE handheld PCs. 

 

  Also CF+ interface is compatible with PCMCIA 16 bit interface. With a 50-pin(CF+) to 68-pin (PCMCIA) adapter, this product can also be used in a laptop or notebook PC with PCMCIA slots. For laptop or notebook PCs with PCMCIA slot, please use this adapter.

You will be installing the CF10/100 FastEthernet adapter in your computer.

For connection to a 100Base-TX Fast Ethernet network, use a Category 5 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) network cable with an RJ-45 connector to connect with the 100Mbps port of your hub or switch.

For connection to a 10Base-T Ethernet network, use a Category 3, 4 or 5 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) network cable with an RJ-45 connector to connect with the 10Mbps port of your hub or switch.

Setup for Windows 98

  1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are at the Windows 98 operating system.
  2. Insert the CF10/100 Fast Ethernet adapter into the PCMCIA or CF slot on your PC. The system will display the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Insert the "10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter" driver diskette into floppy driver and then press "Next" button.
  3. Select "Search for the Best Driver for your device (Recommended)", press "Next" button.
  4. Select "Floppy disk drives" (or select "Specify a location" and type "A:\win98" in the location), where the device information file (.INF file) and the driver pcmcard.INF can be found.
  5. Press "Next" button, the driver then installs itself. If windows require for Windows 98 source diskette, insert the CD-ROM or disks as needed, direct Windows to the proper location, and then click "OK" button.
  6. Click "Finish" to complete the installation process.
  7. Reboot the PC to start the network.

Setup for Windows 2000

  1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are at the Windows 2000 operating system.
  2. Insert the CF10/100 Fast Ethernet adapter into the PCMCIA  or CF slot on your PC. The system will display the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Insert the "10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter" driver diskette into floppy driver and then press "Next" button.
  3. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended)", press "Next" button.
  4. Select "Floppy disk drives" (or select "Specify a location" and type "A:\" in the location), where the device information file (.INF file) and the driver pcmcard.inf can be found.
  5. Press "Next" button, the driver then installs itself.
  6. Click "Finish" to complete the installation process.
  7. Reboot the PC to start the network.

Setup for Windows ME

  1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are under Windows ME operating system.

  2. Insert the CF10/100 Fast Ethernet adapter into the PCMCIA  slot or CF on your PC.  Windows ME will recognize the device. It will show “found New hardware Wizard”. Select “Automatic search for a better driver” and insert the driver diskette or CD and click "Next".

  3. Windows ME will search and recognize the driver of the Device.

  4. Then  Windows will automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system. 

  5. After copying the driver files, the device installation is completed. Click "Finish".  

  6. Restart your computer, after the computer is restarted, the network function will be ready.

Setup for Windows XP

  1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are under Windows XP operating system.

  2. Insert the CF10/100 Fast Ethernet adapter into the PCMCIA  or CF slot on your PC.  Windows XP will recognize the device. It will show “found New hardware Wizard”. Select “Automatic search for a better driver” and insert the driver diskette or CD and click "Next".

  3. Windows XP will search and recognize the driver of the Device.

  4. Then  Windows will automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system. 

  5. After copying the driver files, the device installation is completed. Click "Finish".  

  6. Restart your computer, after the computer is restarted, the network function will be ready.

Chapter 1 Introduction

This manual describes how to operate CF10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter. CF10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter is a PCMCIA and CF compatible Ethernet Adapter which works with any Computer, Notebook, Sub-notebook , PDA that supports PCMCIA or Cf slot.

Installing the CF10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter

You will be installing the  CF10/100 Fast Ethernet Adapter in your computer.

LED Indicators

         This LED is used to indicate the Ethernet speed: Green means "connected with 100 Base-TX Ethernet network".

           This LED is used to indicate the Ethernet connection. Green means   "connected with 10 or 100Mbps Ethernet network"

           This Green indicator is used to indicate the network activity, and will flash on and off intermittently when the PC is  transmitting or receiving packets from the network.

 

README.TXT File

In your driver diskette, there is one file named README.TXT which provides the information about this Driver Diskette's contents and installation guide. This file is located in the root directory of the diskette.

Chapter 3 Setup for Windows 98

Installation

  1. Make sure your PC is powered on and you under the Windows 98 operating system.
  2. Insert the CF10/100 Fast Ethernet adapter into the PCMCIA or CF slot on your PC.  The system will display the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Insert the "CF10/100  Fast Ethernet Adapter" driver diskette into floppy driver and then press "Next" button.

  1. Select "Search for the Best Driver for your device (Recommended)". Press "Next" button.

  1. Select "Floppy disk drives" (or select "Specify a location" and type A:\WIN98 in the location), where the device information file (.INF file) and the driver PCMCARD.SYS can be found. Press "Next" button.

  1. After Windows finds the driver, the following prompt will appear: "CF10/100  LAN Adapter ", press "Next" button.
  1. After the driver is found, Windows will begin to copy all the necessary files to install network function.  If Windows tries to copy "PCMCARD.SYS" file and displays the following dialog box, just input "A:\WIN98" to specify the location of this file.

  1. Windows may request you to "Insert Windows 98 CD-ROM into the driver selected, and click OK". Follow the instruction and input CD-ROM or disks as needed, direct Windows to the proper location, and then click "OK" button.

  1. When Windows finishes the installation, the "CF 10/100 Base FastEthernet Adapter" message box will be prompted, then click "Finish" button .

  1. System will ask you "Do you want to restart your computer now". Click "Yes" to restart your computer.
  1. After the computer is restarted, the network function will be ready.

 

Chapter 4 Setup for Windows 2000

Installation

  1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are under Windows 2000 operating system.
  2. Insert the CF10/100 Fast Ethernet adapter into the PCMCIA or CF slot on your PC. The system will display the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Insert the "CF10/100 Ethernet Adapter" driver diskette into floppy driver and then press "Next" button.

  1. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended)", and press "Next" button

  1. Select "Floppy disk drives" (or select "Specify a location" and type "A:\WIN2000" in the location), where the device information file (.INF file) and the driver PCMCARD.SYS can be found.

  1. After Windows finds the driver, the following prompt will appear: "CF10/100  LAN Adapter ". Press "Next" button, the driver then installs itself.

  1. When Windows finishes the installation, the "CF 10/100  LAN Adapter" message box will be prompted, then click "Finish" button .

  1. Restart your computer. After the computer is restarted, the network function will be ready.

Chapter 5  Setup for Windows ME

Installation

(1)Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are under Windows ME operating system.

(2)Insert the CF10/100 Fast Ethernet adapter into the PCMCIA or CF slot on your PC. Windows ME will recognize the device. It will show “found New hardware Wizard”. Select “Speecify the location of the driver” and insert the driver diskette or CD and click "Next".

(3)Key in driver path "A:\WIN98_ME" , Windows ME will search and recognize the driver of the Device,   

(4) Then  Windows will automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system. 

(5) After copying the driver files, the device installation is completed, click "Finish".

 

 

(6) Restart your computer. After the computer is restarted, the network function will be ready.

Chapter 6  Setup for Windows XP

Installation

(1)Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are under Windows XP operating system.

(2)Insert the CF10/100 Fast Ethernet adapter into the PCMCIA or CF slot on your PC.  Windows XP will recognize the device. It will show “Found New hardware Wizard”. Select “Install the software automatically (Recommended)” and insert the driver diskette or CD and click "Next". 

 

(3)Then system will show tell you this driver not pass Windows logo test  this windows, In here please click "Continue Anyway", then Windows will automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system. 

(5)After copying the driver files, the device installation is completed. Click "Finish".  

(6)Then network function will be ready.

Chapter 7 Setup for Windows CE

Installation

This Compact Flash Ethernet PC Card provides the capability for any Windows CE to connect to a Local Area Network (LAN).

1. Included drivers 
Please select the correct installation program depending on the version of Windows CE of your handheld.

For Windows CE 2.0, 2.11 that has no build-in Network function, the included drivers are for "MIPS R4000" and "SH3".

For Windows CE 2.0, 2.11, 3.0 that has build-in Network function, the included drivers are for "SA1100", "MIPS R4000", and "SH3".


2. How to Install Drivers:
Step 1. Connect your Host PC to your Handheld via the serial cable by selecting Start/Programs/Communication/PC Link.

Step 2. Run Setup.exe to install Compact Flash Ethernet PC Card drivers.

Step 3. Network Configuration Setup (see below).
Step 4. Insert NetComm Compact Flash Ethernet PC Card to Handheld.
Step 5. Reboot Handheld to initiate the Network function.

3. Network Configuration Setup:

A. Using static IP Address:

Step 1. Tap Start->Settings->Control Panel->Network icon.

Step 2. Make sure "NetComm Compact Flash Ethernet Card" is highlighted.

Step 3. Tap on Properties.

Step 4. Under the IP Address tab, make sure the "Specify an IP address" radio button is selected.

Step 5. Key in IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway addresses.
Step 6. Tap the Name Servers tab.
Step 7. Key in DNS and WINS addresses, if necessary.

B. Using DHCP:
Step 1. Tap Start->Settings->Control Panel->Network icon.
Step 2. Make sure "Compact Flash Ethernet Card" is highlighted.

Step 3. Tap on Properties.

Step 4. Under the IP Address tab, make sure the "Obtain an IP address via DHCP" radio button is selected.

Step 5. Tap the Name Servers tab.

Step 6. Key in DNS and WINS addresses, if necessary.

  NOTE: * In rare cases, Windows CE might prompts you with an "Unknown Device" dialog box, please type in "ne2000.dll" as the driver name.
