Chapter 1 Introduction

The USB 2.0 10/100 FastEthernet Adapter provides plug-and-play 10/100Mbps dual speed Ethernet connection for PCs, notebooks, and laptops. The device complies with USB Specification 2.0, 1.0 and 1.1. It uses a USB type A connector to connect to the USB host computer, and a RJ-45 connector to a 100Base-TX or 10Base-T Ethernet link. This low power-consuming device draws power from a host USB bus, thus no external power supply is required.

LED Indicators

         This LED is used to indicate the Ethernet speed: Green means "connected with 100Base-TX Ethernet network", and will flash on and off intermittently when the PC is transmitting or receiving packets from the network.

          This LED is used to indicate the Ethernet connection: Green means "connected with 10 Ethernet network", and will flash on and off intermittently when the PC is transmitting or receiving packets from the network.

           This LED is used to indicate the Ethernet Communication Mode: Green is displayed when in Full Duplex operation. Green-off is displayed when in Half Duplex operation.

Chapter 3 Setup for Windows 98

  1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are running the Windows 98 operating system.
  2. Insert the USB head (the A-type connector) into a USB port on your PC. The system will recognize the device and display "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Insert the "USB 2.0 10/100 Ethernet Adapter" driver diskette into floppy driver and then press the "Next" button.

  1. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)", press the "Next" button.

  1. Select "Floppy disk drives" and press the "Next" button.

  1. After Windows finds the driver, press the "Next" button.

  1. Windows may request for you to "Please insert the disk labeled 'Windows 98 CD-ROM', and then click OK." Follow the instructions and input the CD-ROM or disks as needed, direct Windows to the proper location, and then click the "OK" button.

  1. When Windows finished the installation, the "USB 2.0 10/100 Ethernet Adapter" dialog box will appear, then click the "Finish" button .

  1. System will ask you "Do you want to restart your computer now?". Click "Yes" to restart your computer.

  1. After the computer is restarted, the network function will be ready.

Chapter 4 Setup for Windows 2000

  1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are running the Windows 2000 operating system.
  2. Insert the USB head (the A-type connector) into a USB port on your PC. The system will recognize the device and display the "Found New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Insert the driver diskette into floppy driver and press "Next" button.

  1. Select "Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended)", press the "Next" button.

  1. After Windows finds the driver, the following prompt will appear "USB 2.0 10/100 Ethernet Adapter". Press the "Next" button.

  1. Then  Windows will pop-up one "Digital Signature Not Found" dialog box, please click the "Yes" button, system will automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system. 

  1. When Windows finished the installation, the "USB 2.0 10/100 Network Adapter" dialog box will be prompted, then press the "Finish" button .

  1. Restart your computer, after the computer is restarted, the network function will be ready.

Chapter 5 Setup for Windows ME

  1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are running the Windows ME operating system.
  2. Insert the USB head (the A-type connector) into the USB port on your PC. , The system will recognize the device and display "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, select "Automatic search for a better driver (Recommended)" and insert the driver diskette and press the "Next" button.

  1. When Windows finished the installation, the "USB 2.0 10/100 Ethernet Adapter" dialog box will be prompted, then click the "Finish" button .

  1. System will ask you "Do you want to restart your computer now?". Click "Yes" to restart your computer.

  1. Restart your computer, after the computer is restarted, the network function will be ready.

Chapter 6 Setup for Windows XP

  1. Make sure your PC is powered on and that you are running the Windows XP operating system.
  2. Insert the USB head (the A-type connector) into the USB port on your PC. , The system will recognize the device and display "Found New hardware Wizard" dialog box, select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and insert the driver diskette. Press the "Next" button.

(CAUTION: Make sure your USB host end supports USB2.0. If not, this device will only run on USB 1.0&1.1 specification..)

  1. Then  Windows will pop-up one "Hardware Installation" windows please click "Continue Anyway", The system will automatically copy the driver files and related files into the system. 

  1. After copying the driver files, the device installation is complete. Click the "Finish" button.  

  1. Restart your computer, after the computer is restarted, the network function will be ready.

Chapter 7 Troubleshooting

Q1. When I plug in my USB 2.0 10/100 Ethernet Adapter, no LED indicator signal is shown, what's going on?

A: If your USB 2.0 10/100 Ethernet Adapter doesn't have any LED signal, it means that your USB 2.0 10/100 Ethernet Adapter is not getting any power. Therefore, you need to check PC's USB Hubs are working properly.

Q2. Currently a USB device is using my USB port. Can I use the USB 2.0 10/100 Ethernet adapter simultaneously?

A: Yes, you can connect up to 127 devices to run simultaneously on one computer. If you have only one USB port on your computer, you will need to use a USB HUB device, which will provide you with additional USB ports.

Q3. Do I need to connect an external power supply to the USB 2.0 10/100 Ethernet adapter?

A: No, It is a self-bus power device. There is no need to connect external power supply.
