Quick Start Guide
Thank you for purchasing 10/100 Base FastEthernet PC Card
Installing the 10/100 Base FastEthernet PC Card
You will be installing the FastEthernet card in your computer's Type II
PC Card slot. Please refer to your computer user's manual or consult the computer
manufacturer if you are having trouble locating this slot.
Gently slide the PC card into the PC Card slot. After making sure the
card is firmly seated in the socket, you are ready to install your network drivers.
Setup for DOS
Before you can use your new FastEthernet card, you need to
install the proper drivers on the computer for the FastEthernet card. Your computer don't
need the Card and Socket Services drivers pre-installed, just use our directly
enabling program.
Follow these steps to get up and run:
1. PCMCIA controller enabling program:
The program is in "\ENABLER" directory of the driver diskette.
Please change to the corresponding directory before executing the enabler routine.
In DOS command, cd to "\ENABLER" directory, then -
type "EN100 [/IRQ:x][/IOP:xxx]"
- IRQ - system interrupt number required for the FastEthernet card.
- IOP - card's I/O port address assignment in HEX format.
The default syntax is "EN100 /IRQ:5 /IOP:300".
2. Novell DOS ODI Driver:
This directory "\ODI" contains FastEthernet DOS ODI driver. You need the
following files to install DOS ODI DRIVER.
- LSL.COM: supplied by Novell
- PCM100.COM: DOS ODI driver, supplied by card manufacturer
- IPXODI.COM: supplied by Novell
- NETX.EXE: supplied by Novell
- NET.CFG: optional configuration file
Type "STARTNET" at the DOS prompt will execute the five files above,
then you can login to the file server.
Setup for Windows 95/98
Windows 95/98 comes with most of the drivers necessary for accessing your FastEthernet
card. Just follow these steps to get up and running:
- Start the computer.
- Insert the FastEthernet card into a PC Card slot in your computer, make sure the card is
securely inserted into the socket. Windows will display the "Update Device Driver
Wizard" dialog box. Click "Next", Select "Other
Locations" button and type in "A:\WIN95" if your system is
running Windows 95 or "A:\WIN98" if your system is running Windows 98,
where the device information file (.INF file) and the driver (.SYS file) can be found.
Press "OK". The driver then installs itself. If "Insert Disk" dialog
box asks for other file, type in your Windows path or Windowss System path or your
Windows CD-ROM to find the file.
- Click "Finish" to complete the installation process
Setup for Windows NT 3.51
Windows NT 3.51 comes with most of the drivers necessary for accessing your
FastEthernet card. Just follow these steps to get up and running:
- Shutdown the Windows NT and power off the PC.
- Insert the FastEthernet card into a PC Card slot in the computer.
- Startup your Windows NT 3.51.
- Open the "Main" group icon and double click the "Control
Panel" then the "Network" icon.
- Press the "Add Adapter
" and select "10/100 Base
FastEthernet PC Card" from the list. Press "Continue".
- An adapter setup option dialog box is displayed next. Select your free IRQ, I/O address
and connection type, then press "OK".
- "Windows NT Setup"
dialog box will now ask you to input device driver
location. Type in "A:\WNT351" then press "Continue".
- Upon finished the driver files copying, the process will go back to Network Settings,
select "Bindings
" button to bind all services and press "OK"
button to exit the binding display.
- The installation will proceed to ask you for the required NWLink IPX/SPX Protocol and
TCP/IP setup information. You will need to ask your System Administrator for an IP
address, a DNS address and/or the Gateway machine address in order to setup your network
protocols.
- Click "OK" after you have entered the proper protocols' setup
information and restart the computer.
Setup for Windows NT 4.0
Windows NT 4.0 comes with most of the drivers necessary for accessing
your FastEthernet card. Just follow these steps to get up and
running:
- Shutdown the Windows NT and power off the PC.
- Insert the FastEthernet card into a PC Card slot in the computer.
- Startup your Windows NT 4.0.
- Double click the "Control Panel/Network", select the "Adapter",
press "Add" button, then select the "Have Disk" option
for required driver disk from the manufacturer.
- Type in "A:\WNT40"
- After press the "OK" button, the card's information will be
displayed in the dialog box for your selection.
- Select the "10/100 Base FastEthernet PC Card" from the dialog box and
press OK to continue.
- Go to next dialog box, select free IRQ, I/O address and select your connection type,
then press OK. The NT will proceed with the driver files copying
- Upon finished the driver files copying, the process will go back to Network,
select "Bindings..." and press "Close" button.
- The installation will proceed to ask you for the required TCP/IP setup information. You
will need to ask your System Administrator for an IP address, a DNS address and/or the
Gateway machine address in order to setup your TCP/IP service.
- Click "OK" after you have entered the proper TCP/IP setup information
and restart the computer.
Chapter1: Introduction
This manual describes how to operate 10/100 Base FastEthernet PC Card.
The 10/100 Base FastEthernet PC Card is about the size of a credit card. The FastEthernet
PC Card works with any computer, Notebook, Sub-notebook, or card reader that supports
SystemSoft, Phoenix, AMI, Award card and socket services with PCMCIA Release 2.1 and JEIDA
4.x standards.
This product supports the popular drivers such as Windows, Windows NT,
and NetWare Network Operating Systems.

INSTALLING THE FASTETHERNET PC
CARD
You will be installing the FastEthernet PC Card in your computer's Type
II or III PC Card slot. Please refer to your computer user's manual or consult the
computer manufacturer if you are having trouble locating this slot.
Gently slide the PC card into the PC Card slot. After making sure the
card is firmly seated in the socket, you are ready to install your network drivers.

README.TXT FILE
In driver diskette, there is one file named README.TXT that provides
the information about the Driver Diskettes contents and installation guide. This
file is located in the root directory of the diskette.
Chapter 3:
Setup for DOS
NetWare DOS ODI DRIVER
This product supports DOS ODI driver for NetWare 3.x and 4.x network
operating systems. All necessary files are stored under the ODI directory of the driver
diskette. The filename is PCM100.COM. To install this ODI driver, there is a sample batch
file named STARTNET.BAT that is located in the same directory. Here are five files needed
to install DOS ODI driver, those are:
LSL.COM----- supplied by Novell
PCM100.COM----- DOS ODI driver, supplied by this product
IPXODI.COM----- Supplied by Novell
NETX.EXE----- Supplied by Novell

- NET.CFG----- Configuration File
The NET.CFG file is used to decide what is the configuration about this
FastEthernet PC Card. The following statements are the sample contents in NET.CFG. If you
have any problem about these setting, check your Users Manual of the NetWare
Operating Systems.

PACKET DRIVER
To use FTP PC/TCP or NCSA Telnet utilities, a packet driver for the
network adapter is needed. This product supports packet driver named PCM100PD.COM. To load
this packet driver, just execute the following sample command:
PCM100PD 0x60
Chapter 4: Setup for Windows 95/98
Windows 95/98 comes with most of the drivers necessary for accessing your Ethernet
card. Just follow these steps to get up and running:
- Start the computer.
- Insert this FastEthernet PC Card adapter into a PC Card slot in your computer, making
sure the card is securely inserted into the socket.
- Windows will prompt "New Hardware Found" and display the "Update
Device Driver Wizard" dialog box. Click "Next".
- Windows try to find the driver for this card. If it displays "Windows was unable
to locate for this device", just select "Other Location".

- When Windows display "Select Other Location" dialog box, input the
drivers location "A:\WIN95" if your system is running Windows 95 or
"A:\WIN98" if your system is running Windows 98, and click "OK"
when the driver diskette is inserted in drive A.

- If Windows find the driver, "CNet 10/100 Mbps PCMCIA PC Card" message
will be prompted. Click "Finish" to confirm.

- After driver is found, Windows will begin to copy all the necessary files to install
network function. If Windows try to copy "LNA100.SYS" file and display
the following dialog box, just input "A:\WIN95" if your system is running
Windows 95 or "A:\WIN98" if your system is running Windows 98, to specify
the location of this file.

- Windows maybe request you to "Insert Windows CD-ROM into the driver selected,
and click OK". Follow this instruction and input CD-ROM location, e.g. "E:\".

- When Windows finish the installation, the "System Settings Change"
dialog box will be opened with the message, "Do you want to restart your computer
now", displayed. Click "Yes", to restart your computer.

- After computer is restarted, the network function will be running.
- You can use the "PC Card (PCMCIA)" icon in "Control Panel",
to check whether the card is ready.

Chapter 5: Setup
for Windows NT 3.51
Following the steps below to get up and running:
- Insert the FastEthernet PC Card in your computer.
- Start the computer.
- Open the "Main Group" icon and double click on the "Control
Panel" then open "Network", select the "Add
Adapter
" button.

- In the "Add Network Adapter" dialog box, select "CNet 10/100
Mbps PCMCIA PC Card" adapter then press "Continue".

- Select the free IRQ, I/O Port Address and Connection Type, then press "OK".

- Insert the driver diskette into drive A and type "A:\WNT351" when the "Windows
NT Setup" dialog box is prompted. Press "Continue" to proceed
with the setup.

- Go back to "Network Setup" and select "Bindings
".
Click "OK" button to close dialog.

- The installation will proceed to ask you for the required NWLink IPX/SPX Protocol and
TCP/IP setup information. You will need to ask your System Administrator for an IP
address, a DNS address and/or the Gateway machine address in order to setup your network
protocols.


- Click "OK" to finish the network settings. "Network Settings
Change" box is prompted, press "Restart Now" to restart your
computer.

Chapter 6: Setup
for Windows NT 4.0
Following the steps below to get up and running:
- Insert the FastEthernet PC Card in your computer.
Start the computer.
Double click on the "Control Panel/Network", select the "Adapter"
and press "Add" button.

In the "Select Network Adapter" dialog box, select "Have
Disk" option.

Insert the driver diskette into drive A and type "A:\WNT40" when the "Insert
Disk" dialog box is prompted.

"CNet 10/100 Mbps PCMCIA PC Card" is displayed at "Select OEM
Option" dialog box. Click "OK".

Select the free IRQ, I/O Port Address and Connection Type, then press "OK".

Go back to "Network" and select "Bindings". Click
"Close" button to enable the network function.

The installation will proceed to ask you for the required TCP/IP setup information. You
will need to ask your System Administrator for an IP address, a DNS address and/or the
Gateway machine address in order to setup your TCP/IP service.

Click "OK" to finish the network settings. "Network Setting
Change" box is prompted, press "Yes" to restart your computer.
